Highlights from three years of video in Central America's "Rich Coast"

Spending weeks at a time with a couple of cameras and sound equipment yields gobs of footage and sound.

I did a lot of prep work to capture as much pointed footage as possible. Costa Rica is not always accommodating for shooting video:

  • Electronics and rain = no bueno
  • Going from dry & air conditioned rooms into hot & balmy conditions make lenses fog up = no bueno
  • Many destinations are not accessible via automobile
  • Often times the roads are dirt, washboard, and that creates a lot of dust. Electronics don't like dust
  • Along the coastlines roads can wash out for long periods of time due to high-tides

One of my favorite (and simultaneously least favorite) moments was hiking for four miles round-trip with 40 pounds of gear through mud and hills to capture footage of Nauyaca Falls. It was gorgeous and when I arrived I had the entire place to myself. Who in their right minds would consider going up there anyhow?

Me, I guess.

I hope you enjoy this highlight reel compiled from the full library of footage from Costa Rica.
