Deeper II. Artificial Intelligence in Video

(EXPERIMENTAL) VIDEO WITH ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND A MODULAR SYNTHESIZER.

Eurorack modular synth music & deep dream / deep style imagery combined to make sexy.

Welcome to the second video in the Deeper trilogy.

Like its predecessor, Deeper1, this video features deep dream / deep style imagery combined with original music from my Eurorack modular to make sexy time for ears and eyes. Cheers to Deep Dream Generator & EbSynth for inspiring and enabling wild creativity.

This video represents a little over six weeks of work condensed into 5016 frames. Compared to Deeper1 this was a meteoric increase of efficiency and procedure. Three Macs (old MacBook Pro, old Mac Mini, and the 2013 Mac Pro "dust bin") were consumed for a combined total of over 80 hours of rendering, though not all of that material was used. Deeper2 has some of my own footage (the waterfall at the start) and some CC0 stock from Pexels.

Visual delights were primarily done in Deep Dream Generator & EbSynth, comped and tweaked in After Effects, and then edited in Premiere.

The music was made with my eurorack modular synth (wish I'd have turned the camera to the synth) which was run thru a Grace MP2-NV preamp, into Burl B2 ADC converter, and comped in Logic before mastering in Ozone 9.

As you might expect from a trilogy, there is one more coming and it's by FAR my favorite! I'm going to fall down now. Thanks for watching. PS - Go do some cool art at Deep Dream Generator. It's user friendly without a bunch of complicated controls (though creatively you can soar in terms of complexity).

I've been there for close to a year and a half and it has sincerely rocked my creative world.

The Music

This music supporting this video was composed last year using the modular synthesizer shown in the photo to the right (or below on mobile).

For a couple of weeks I had a bunch of random footage (mostly Apollo & Gemini missions and timelapses from the International Space Station) from NASA that ran on a loop with the goal of saturating my eyes with spacey images to plug things in and yield something with a similar vibe sonically - spacey sounds.

Mission accomplished.

Hope you enjoy the video. Send me a message on the contact page if you have questions or ideas.
